Lurgi supplies Technology for Fatty Alcohol Plant in Saudi Arabia

Lurgi GmbH, Frankfurt, has been awarded the order for supplying the technology and license for a fatty alcohol plant in
Jubail, Saudi Arabia within SABIC Affiliate, Saudi Kayan.

The plant will include an upstream fatty acid unit, a wax-ester unit, an hydrogenation unit, a downstream fatty alcohol fractionation and distillation as well as a complete glycerine line. The oleo-chemical complex will have a production capacity of around 83,000 tpa of distilled fatty alcohols of various compositions which are used in the home and personal care industries.

The raw materials used in the plant for the production of the fatty acids are renewable natural oils such as palm kernel and coconut oil.
