Natural gas liquefaction for small to mid scale plants

SmartfinTM is an efficient process for the liquefaction of natural gas based on a Single Mixed Refrigerant cycle. It is best suited to plants supplying remote power and fuel for transport. The technology also interests Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export plants of medium size and peak shaving facilities.

Single Mixed Refrigerant cycle

This proven technology from Air Liquide Engineering & Construction uses a closed-loop mixed refrigerant cycle to liquefy the feed gas. The mixed refrigerant is compressed, partially condensed and expanded in several steps. The cooling duty generated by the expansions is transferred through Brazed Aluminium Heat Exchangers (BAHX) to the natural gas, allowing its liquefaction.

The composition of the mixed refrigerant cycle can be optimized to improve heat exchange in the natural gas liquefaction process.
